MANAGEMENT OF PAIN DURING CHILDBIRTH

The labor pains are due to three causes:
uterine contractions, cervical dilation, perineal distension.
At this pain, we must add a potentiate anxiety of childbirth.
The role of support inherent in our work with patients is the management of pain.

Mobility is an opportunity to better manage pain during the expansion phase. We suggest you walk for cervical dilatation, not only for the anti-pain, but because standing causes the acceleration of delivery by the pressure of the baby's head on the cervix.

The relaxing bath has a positive effect on pain. The warm water acts as a painkiller, along with dilation of the cervix is gradually and faster.

Haptonomy

It is important to know that an action under intense cortical activity, places the pain threshold lower and increases muscle tone. By cons, when prolonged (longer haptonomic practiced during contractions, what parents call the stretch or appeal) to be emotionally with another living being in a loving relationship, it is no longer the cortex is activated, but the most primitive regions of the brain. This produces a change in neuromuscular spindles resulting in a tone optimally matched to the action that follows. It follows a relaxation of muscle tone and an increased pain threshold.
More practically, the haptonomy sessions take place as follows:

The accompaniment begins at birth to the 20th week of pregnancy when the baby's movements are beginning to be felt by the mother.

The first session was a panel discussion on what exactly haptonomy and what parents really want, it is at this point that the midwife confronts them with the touch haptonomic and that they are introduced to haptonomic phenomena.
Sessions last approximately one hour, and then every two weeks to three weeks.

During other sessions, the midwife encourages parents to discover the contact they have with their child. The baby has an active role in these sets of contacts, it is very sensitive to emotional stimuli and the difference between a pleasant state or not.

The father is introduced to the female world by learning to observe the silhouette of his wife and how this affects her baby, with little exercises he learned to refocus his wife in a good position so that it is aware of its base He also learns to soothe and relax.

Later, he will learn what may be its role in the birth itself.

The hot water bottle on the lower abdomen or back may also relieve pain during the first contractions.

The back massage at the waist with a partner is not just a painkiller, but give the woman a feeling of support and presence.
