Compensatory ability of the organism

The body of the fetus has severe compensatory abilities, due to the increase in heart rate to 150 - 160 beats / min, a large oxygen capacity of fetal blood, special structure of fetal hemoglobin, features of circulation and metabolism in the fetus.

Reduction of blood oxygen saturation leads to a change in the metabolic processes in the fetus. In the beginning, all the organs and systems of the fetus begin to work more activity due to the compensatory capacity, then their inhibition comes which can lead to irreversible changes in the aggravation of the disease.

A slight hypoxia usually no effect on the health of the unborn child. Severe hypoxia followed by ischemia and necrosis in various organs, leading to irreversible consequences.
